About the Artist

Shane Howarth was first fascinated by blacksmithing when working as an opal miner in southern Queensland. He was fascinated by the way steel could be manipulated and the beautiful tempering colours produced when heating the steel. 

Shane started his journey as a blacksmith about nine years ago when he completed three weekend courses at Orange TAFE.

Having whet his appetite he went on to complete a three year course in blacksmithing at Richmond TAFE in Sydney.

Having pursued blacksmithing as a hobby for seven years Shane has been blacksmithing full time since August 2017.

Shane enjoys re-creating nature in his sculptures. He is constantly looking to improve his skills and expand his product range.

Shane makes many different  items both artistic and practical. He enjoys selling his work in markets, and entering sculptures in exhibitions.
